TomTom (the most famous creators of the Sat Nav) have actually teamed up with Apple in making a piece of sofware for the iPhone that does something very similar to a normal Sat Nav?

The easy answer is no. This is coming to the iPhone for around £60 which is not cheap at all. Of course the friendly woman telling you where to go is present here but what on earth happens if you recieve a telephone call when you are concentrating on the directions. Is the lovely Sat Nav woman simply saying “please stop here while you take the call” as you frantically answer “BUT I’M IN THE MIDDLE OF A MOTORWAY!!!This inventions has many flaws but then again dont all inventions.

The price isn’t exactly nice either; you can get a decent Sat Nav for cheaper that will do more than this extra application. Is it not just promoting you to look at your mobile phone when you are driving your nice, soon to be wrecked (if you are constantly looking at your phone) Mercedes orNissan?

Of course all of this could be just a little bit more hype for the iPhone? The thing is, many mobile phones have been able to do this for quite a number of years, why is the iPhone so special? It isnt at all. It is more of an added bonus to existing iPhone owners rather than a product buying piece of software which is what makes it worth having.

It doesn’t matter what car you have, or even if you are thinking of getting used cars it can work with anything just like a normal Sat Nav.

The iPhone application is jsut another option should you be interested in buying a Sat Nav.

Zipcar have invented a brand new way to unlock the car. They are doing well for themselves as this is an idea unique to them at this moment in time. This company, like many others have actually been keeping their eyes on the market and have realised that the iPhone is very popular so they have come up with a brand new idea for renting one of their cars.

With over 400 of their cars already installed with the new product it is only a matter of time before all of their electronic opening cars are fitted with the same piece of technology. The system that has been created can actually tell the difference between each and every iPhone so you wont have any thieves attempting to steal your ride. The signal from the phone is picked up by a tiny system placed on the inside of the car itself. For security reasons when you rent the car and get inside it for the very first time there is a security card that must be swiped so that it will pick you up as the individual user for that car.

This invention sounds like it is coming straight from a famous spy movie than anything else. Of course you are not going to be able to do this with used cars yet because this is happening only at Zipcar. However the day is sure to arrive where everyone is unlocking their new cars in this way. Perhaps in the future when you go to buy an Audi or perhaps when you buy a Honda

So what is next for the iPhone and car? Perhaps you will be able to let the phone steer your car for you or do it via remote controlled access like in the Bond movies or perhaps this is as far as it is going to go. Of course technology itself is ever changing and it is almost certain to say that we can hope to see a lot more of these types of inventions.

People love gadgets that they can use in their everyday lives, none more so than those gadgets found in cars or that can be used in cars. Here is a breakdown of 3 of the latest car gadgets that have either recently hit the market or are soon to do so.

Electronic Cigarette. There are a great deal of car drivers out there who like to smoke in their vehicle (its one of the only places left you are allowed to smoke). However, people that ride in the car as passengers don’t want to be confronted with the offensive smell that cigarettes leave behind. Also, there is no escaping the left over cigarette butts, burns and ash in the car. This new electronic cigarette solves all these problems by producing clean smoke that isnt even harmful to the body. The best bit is you can recharge these gadgets in the cigarette lighter port, so itll save you a fortune.

Sound Blocking Head Rest. This is one of these gifts for men, when they are trying to concentrate on the task at hand. This new headrest addition emits low frequency sound waves that you can barely hear, but that intercept and block out all other noise in the car. This is bliss for any driver that suffers from nagging passengers, either in the seat next to them or the seats at the back.

Auto-Adjusting Car Seats. This advancement benefits both driving comfort and car safety. Expected to be released by Ford in 2012, these new seats adjust automatically to your body shape and weight, giving you the best ergonomically friendly driving position. You can even program the seat to move to different positions depending on what style of driving you want to do. What is more, if the worst case scenario happens and you find yourself in a car accident, the seat will do it’s best to protect you by moving itself into the safest possible position in a flash. If the seats behind the driver and front passenger seat are empty, the seats at the front of the car will move backwards and get lower down in the event of an impact, all in the space of a few milliseconds.
